Rona Peligal

Rona joined the Fund in 2017, and she oversees the organization’s Development & Communications Department. Rona is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Fund’s fundraising and outreach efforts to advance the Fund’s mission, meet our financial goals, diversify our revenue, raise our visibility, and reach new audiences. In the past six years, under her direction, the Fund’s budget has doubled in size. To ensure the Fund’s sustainability, Rona works closely with the Board, particularly its Finance, Nominating and Governance, and Development committees. . Prior to joining the Fund, Rona worked for 15 years at Human Rights Watch, serving as the deputy director of Development and then the deputy director of the Africa division. She has a Ph.D. in history from Columbia University, where she focused on Africa and women’s rights.
